Being interested in psychotherapy and mental health I took my opportunity to pick up this classic cheaply. Some say that this, the author's first and most celebrated work is a relatively easy read - but I had to read the early chapters slowly and carefully to feel that I understood them. - but it was worth the effort.(Perhaps I'm getting old ). To understand psychosis surely, is to better understand the human condition - and is that a simple undertaking ? - of course not. The case histories towards the end came as something of a relief - the flesh on the theoretical bones. Surely, the first step in helping a psychotic person is to begin to understand them. Lets remember that the author had considerable clinical experience before he wrote this.
