This book would not appeal to everyone. For a start, the hero, Fileding Gray, is bisexual and is diverted from an important mission by an attreactive young man; the 'Judas Boy' of the title. Apart from that, it is a good, James Bond-ish thriller with secret services involved and the Americans, rather than the Russians, in the role of villains. It takes place in the 1960s, after Cypriot independence in 1960. The plot is intriguing, shocking and ingenious by turns. Many of the characters turn up again in others of Raven's 'Alms for Oblivion' series.
