Product Information
Nikolai Kondratieff was a Russian economist who first advanced the idea that an industrial economy - be it free market or socialist - goes through long waves of growth and decline. He identified 40-60 year waves going as far back as 1790 by studying wholesale prices, interest rates, wages and production. Kondratieff's theory was not well received and he died as a result of solitary confinement in Russia. This book takes a serious look at the Kondratieff Wave theory in light of current evidence and experience. This unique book is for anyone interested in general economic history, economic theory and business cycles and of course, Kondratieff cultists. In the West the long wave theory has been both widely supported and denigrated; it faded from public attention with the wide acceptance of the Keynes theory, monetarism, macro - and microeconomics and other approaches which have subsequently failed to direct and forecast economic trends.Product Identifiers
