Spectacular build quality and beautiful design beseiged by horrible companion software and memory limitations
Pros: amazing battery life, quick charging, oled screen and design is breathtaking, controls are intuitive, sounds very good, feels weighty and very solidly built for it's size, uses standard mini usb
Cons: sonicstage ... facepalm (painfully slow and annoying quirks like a cumbersome sorting/search function, random crashes/hangs) but standalone vaio music transfer tool also works and is much better, buttons are a little hard to press, 1GB is barely sufficient but it's a shame it doesn't have more memory, very slow upload speeds (usb 1.1)
All in all if you just want some eye candy that sounds great and runs forever that you wont often load songs onto then this is the player for you. It really is a shame that sony doesn't release an updated version that physically is the same but with modern storage capacities (16 or 32gb) with support for lossless codecs and support for drag and drop loading with at least usb 2.0 speeds. This would be nearly perfect but alas the nw-e507 was released ahead of its time, limited by the technology, cost and sony codec decisions of its day. Still, as a secondary mp3 player to use when I'm feeling fancy it's hard to beat how beautiful it is!
