  • Beauty and the beast?

The Spector miracle is like the Garden of Eden - it could have been such paradise until things slid inexorably downhill. Nonetheless Mr Spector is treated with surprising graciousness in this account and that's very good to see. We also get lots of Ronnie - this is after all a Ronnie-eye view of things - and in the background there flits the uneasy, ethereal presence of sister Estelle, whom I for one will always adore. If you believe in fairytales, buy this book.

  • Ronnie Is My Fantasy Baby!

Liked it because it was real. Life of growing up where I could relate to, and how such things can happen in a short while to go from students to a #1 hit with a lotta luck yet personal drive. Their hit as teenagers and there first real record is one of the top rated songs of all time, and not just for Girl Group song's. Soon it was American Bandstand and playing and partying with the Stones and Beatle's all in magical winks of an eye. The whirlwind never stopped with the Wall of Sound and originator Phil Spector butting heads more than any day time Soap Opera could with Ronnie the lead singer, who had arranged the music for the record. I couldn't put it down and ended up getting Ronnie's Best on CD after, which makes the song's come alive because one really can figure out how the passion and lyrics got there!
