  • A treasure trove of information

What a wonderful book this is. Packed full of colour illustrations, it is a gem of a reference source for all those who have an interest in antiques and collectibles or who wish to identify the back story to items which have been inherited or acquired. Quite by chance I discovered that a little mahogany cabinet my grandfather gave me, which stood in his hallway and was used as a telephone table, is a George IV bedside cabinet. It gives a brief history of the categories and in some cases, how to spot alterations and restorations and even copies as well as approximate valuations, which naturally vary with time and fashion. A real coffee table addition.
