Vortex VMX-3T paired with Aimpoint PRO

The pros of this optic are well covered in reviews all over the internet. It's well built, the price point is great, it's sturdy and strong. Overall, I'm happy with it. For the sake of posterity, I will point out some of it's issue so that you can make an totally informed purchase. First off, the mount flips left. This obstructs the view of a both eyes open right eyed shooter. It can be reversed to flip right but this does put the release knob up front which means you have to take your hand off the grip to activate it. The mount is not interchangeable with other mounting solutions. If this is a problem for you, you may want to buy the Burris 3X magnifier and add a LaRue mount. The magnifier lines up very closely with or without the shim when paired with my Aimpoint PRO. I ended up running the shim which puts the mount about 1-2mm higher than the Aimpoint PRO. It's not an issue as the elevation adjustment on the magnifier made it easy to center my red dot. I just wanted to point that out because I have read reviews that say it lines up perfectly. The eye relief is lower than the more expensive magnifiers but I didn't have any problem finding my dot easily when resting my cheek on the fully extended Magpul ACS stock cheek rest. I'm 6'1" tall and like a stretched out shooting stance. So, don't be concerned with people's gripes on eye relief. The field of view is comparable to other magnified optics. This optic improved my groups at 100 yards greatly and help me hit decent groups at 200 yards. I couldn't do that before with just the 1X Aimpoint PRO. It serves it's purpose, and again, I'm very happy with it.

    Vmx-3T decent but not great

I love vortex products. I’ve owned several red dots and scopes. This magnifier leaves more to be desired. It’s great quality and construction but the eye relief is absolutely horrible and field of view is narrow. I would pass on this and order a 1-6x strike Eagle or just run your red dot without magnification.

  • Great Addition to my AR!

Excellent quality item. Goes great with my Vortex Strikefire red dot. No need to re-zero unless you have moved the red dot. I had to move my red dot but was able to re-zero quickly. This magnifier is a wonderful addition to my S&W AR-15 and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to increase the range of view of their red dot, no matter the brand of red dot or rifle you have to put them on.

  • Nice item!

Great scope and highly recommend. However, and I never knew this before, these types of scopes make the red dot difficult to use "if" you have a astigmatism of the eye. I never new this until after trying to use the scope and doing some research. The astigmatism makes the magnified red dot look like a comet leaving a trail.

  • Why spend double the cost for other brands?

The Vortex works perfectly with my Eotech. I'm a right hand shooter and I just flipped the mount around. I have put a couple hundred rounds through the rifle with the magnifier with zero issues. I could not be happier. I've shot steel plates at 200 yards with the magnifier without issues. I'm glad I didn't spend all the money for an Eotech magnifier.

  • Absolutely worth the price!

This is AMAZING. Added it to an open reticle red dot sight and it took my groupings in by a factor of 2-3x tighter. I was barely hitting a 10" circle with the red dot and with this I dropped my grouping into 3" circles. The flip function in awesome, though I wish it were set up by default for right-handed users. It is easy to rotate the hinge 180* but it puts the button at the front (away from the user) when mounted but it took about 5 minutes to start flipping it in and out of view without even thinking about it as I changed targets. I was able to use it with a few different reticles and it has a small (VERY SMALL) riser that was not needed for my first red dot but aligned the Vortex with the second red dot like they were made for each other. I have been VERY happy with the quality and performance.

  • What can I say???

Vortex make very nice optics, and no one beats there Warranty. I have Vortex optics on my 6.5 Creedmore, my AR has red dot w/3x magnifier and just bought another set for my AK. I won't buy any other brand.

  • Good for a magnifier

I picked this magnifier up to use on a 300BLK upper for hunting. I already had a red dot that I use on this, but needed some magnification to see a little better when hunting. I considered getting a low power magnified optic, but the cost plus a mount quickly adds up. This magnifier does the what I need. Adds a bit of magnification so I can see my target better at distance. The eye relief is not very forging at all. What’s also nice about having this magnifier is that I can move it around to other red dot equipped uppers and not worry about zero. This is combination of red dot and magnifier is a nice alternative to a Low Power variable scope if you prefer running a red dot most of the time.

  • Does the job

I'm a sometime shooter, wanted to build an AR 15, had a Bushmaster Carbine, so converted it into a flat top which then required me to spend my lunch money for all the accuterments that were necessary to sight it and shoot it and have a reasonable chance of hitting the target. Once I had the BUIS setup, and a red dot sight setup and zeroed at 25 meters, after all that, I discovered I had trouble seeing past the front sight. So, having very little lunch money left I started looking for a magnifier to help me see what I wanted to shoot at. I found that these things could be very expensive. I settled on this Vortex magnifier because according to a great many previous buyers, it was not only a good sight, but reasonably priced. I have found this to be true. It works for me, my wife gave me an advance on future lunch money and I purchased it for a very reasonable price. I'd recommend it someone who has the same needs I do. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with lens covers, so when you're buying it, get the lens covers.

  • Sweet little magnifier

Bought this to offset the price of a 3x optic since I already had a Vortex red dot. This was easy to install and use. Does the job well. Very sturdy and super clear. Haven’t used it in adverse conditions so I cannot speak towards any fog issues/prevention(not that I’ve heard of any). At the range it works just fine.
