Peter, albeit unknowingly, has been selected by the Ellyllon and their Guardian, as prospective candidate for the post of Apprentice Guardian! He is about to embark upon a series of very special tests, which will lead him eventually to his unspoken goal, that of following his hero, Anir, as Guardian of Arx Emain. A trip to Roman Gaul in the declining years of the Empire, seems to be an appropriate task. Arthur, Supreme Ruler of the Britons, happens to be there, fighting a war against the Goths.
