About this product

Product Information

From the age of only 18 months, Buddy Rich appeared with his parents on the stages of countless variety theatres throughout the US as Traps, the Drum Wonder . He starred on Broadway when he was three years old and became the highest paid child performer of his time. But then, as he reached adolescence, the novelty of his act diminished. In the 1930s he turned from novelty drumming to jazz, supplying the drumming for the 1939 Artie Shaw Band and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. With the emergence of his own band in 1946, Buddy Rich once again became a star of the music business, and with each passing year, he grew in stature as a creative original. This book is an account of his life and career.
