I cannot think of any reason why I should not believe what I read in this book. At first I thought the General was the but of a joke that he passed to his staff officer, but the colonel claims to have seen the bodies at an earlier date, and that date and data corresponds to the autopsy reports he read as a part of the project. All very fascinating. Well worth the read.
