I have never read Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens before I had only ever seen either the film or TV versions. The book was an excellent read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the book certainly brought the characters to life, with parts of the book being totally different from the screen versions. I would recommend anyone who hasn't read Oliver Twist to read it, it gives an insight in to life in London and the surrounding areas in the 19th century, it is a very sad and moving story and tells how the Parochial Councils became responsible for the poor in their parish and the sufferings of both young and old alike. An Excellent and highly recommended book. Can't wait to read the next Dickens Novel. Cinemaplaz3
