Several new features have been added including: - six tests to enable learners to check their progress and review areas of difficulty - an English-German vocabulary to go alongside the existing German-English vocabulary - a glossary of grammatical terms - a 'taking it further' section to direct learners to further sources of real German The page design has been improved and section headings given in English to make the course easier to use for the self-access learner. Would recommend highly.
This course is excellent value - the book is well written and the pace very manageable. The CDs are indispensable, particularly when you are studying on your own. You gain confidence by repeatedly listening to the audio, and practising your pronunciation, I found. Grammar is introduced logically and sensibly as some books tend to throw everything at you a little quickly. That said, there has to be some way of learning what you have read and learning by heart might be to some unfashionable, but there has to be a way of absorbing what you are trying to learn. Those audio only type of courses would not have worked for me because I wanted to be able to not only speak German but also to write and read it.
