I bought this book because the title intrigued me. The initials reminded me of the book of kells, and I wondered if there was an irish/Scottish celtic connection, and so it proved. The work was collected by an excise man, which I am sure didn't endear him to the locals? Its a collection of folklore from the vanishing cultures of Scotland. Its a mixture of pagan and Christian belief systems illustrated by poems, prayers, invocations, blessings and charms. A lost lexicon of piety now in print and an excellent read.
A book recommended by a fellow priest and well worth having on your bookshelf

Great collection of Scottish folk writings, that would have been lost otherwise. Like a Cecil Sharp collection but for Scotland.
