  • Fine translation!

If, like me, you've struggled with a dry, academic, no doubt faithful, but discouragingly arid translation of this tome - then think again! Edith Grossman's translation is witty and engaging, playful yet profound. I don't read olde Spanish - but reviews re-assured me that this edition captured the flavours as well as the facts. I'm told it is technically accurate - but it is also a vibrant read. I never got past the prologue of the poe-faced Penguins edition, but I'm romping through Grossman's spirited realisation of this classic. Give it a go!

  • As ordered, thanks. I shall read it when I go to bed to help my insomnia. At close to 1000 pages it should last a long time.
