''Factotum'' is -arguably - Bukowski's finest work, although ''Post Office'' and ''Ham on Rye'' are close contenders. Features the fictional character Henry Chinaski, Bukowski's low-life alter-ego, a loner and hopeless alcoholic writer. He is only good at three things: going from deadpan job - to - deadpan job, woman - to - woman, and writing, of course. A black comedy, loosely autobiographical. The character in question has been played by Mickey Rourke in ''Barfly'' and Matt Dillon in ''Factotum''. Highly recommended read!
