  • The Great and the Rusty.

As a man in his late 50’s, I reached that milestone age of 17 and hence the legal age to learn to drive in 1981. Thus it came to pass that the only modes of affordable transport were the great and Corroded motors of the 1970’s. This book is an absolute must for anyone who cut their driving teeth on the likes of the Escort, Cortina, Chevette and Datsun era. The rusty Fiats, Leyland’s and Triumph’s. A time when the choke, Rotor Arm, Faulty ignition leads and unreliable damp starts were your constant enemies. We feared the Citroen for the mysteries of it’s complex suspension and marvelled at the influx of Japanese Motors with their unrivalled accessories as standard. We stood incredulous as Lancia’s dissolved in a pile of rust before our very eyes in our rainy climate. And we hankered after every American motor we watched tyre screeching in movies of the era. This book is a Time capsule record of such cars and will take you back to a simpler time. Enjoy.
