About this product

Product Information

In Dispatches Michael Herr brings the reader right to the heart of the Vietnam War. These are his journals, written with such immediacy and sympathy, such an insightful understanding of the facades and falsities that surround him, that the reader is mesmerized. With Dispatches Michael Herr comes close to achieving the impossible: summing up the colossal waste and complexity of war, while keeping hold of the real people, places and events that comprise it. `We have all spent ten years trying to explain what happened to our heads and our lives in the decade we finally survived - but Michael Herr's Dispatches puts all the rest of us in the shade' Hunter S. Thompson

  • War er. what is it good for ?

Brilliant, just brilliant if you ever through about what was would be like ( I have not) then read this book war is S...t also full and boring and you also may get killed. I cannot get over how good this book is Fiasco was. I through the greatest war book Dispatches is on par with that book. If you s dictator or politician thinking about going to war read both of these books. Then decide if it's a good idea.

  • Haven’t read it, but the pages were quite bent in places, but I’ve bought from here before and had no problems at all so I’m sure it’s a one off.
