This is a fun book and useful to pupils of design and technology teachers of year 8 doing the Wallace and Grommit unit Cracking Contraptions it gives lots of diagrammes and also the theory of gears, ways of movement etc. Although the contraptions are too complicated to make for the kids they can take certain elements or ideas from them - a catalyst for their own imagination. It is clearer than the Heath Robinson drawings and comes with instructions on how to build each and the skill level required - recommend as this unit is quite a difficult one to crack.
