  • Must-have for serious paper-crafters

This book reminds me of why paper-crafting never held much appeal to me until recently - most of the projects are interesting to look at but have a definite 'home-made' clumsiness to them. Paper-crafting has come so far since this book was published (1996) and it's well worth having this 'old school' book on the paper-crafter library just for seeing how it used to be done before mass produced die and embossing machines and pre-formed shapes were made available to the general public. The book presents information and instructions for most aspects of paper-craft, from choosing tools and paper to making paper to cutting, quilling, papier mache, weaving, embossing, and more. I was disappointed the art of decoupage wasn't discussed in enough detail to make giving it a go possible with much confidence although there is a section on collage making that uses decoupage techniques, and some photos of antique decoupage boxes. Too, stamping isn't discussed at all. Still, those are the small disappointments with this book and not enough to down-rate it - I do think every serious paper-crafter should have this book. I picked up several useful tips from it and am glad I bought it.
