About this product

Product Information

Lord Peter Wimsey could imagine the artist stepping back, the stagger, the fall, down to where the pointed rocks grinned like teeth. But was it an accident - or murder Six members of the close-knit Galloway artists' colony do not regret Campbell's death. Five of them are red herrings. 'She combined literary prose with powerful suspense, and it takes a rare talent to achieve that. A truly great storyteller.' Minette Walters

This is not one of her most popular Wimsey stories. It is about railway timetables and alibis which few people seem to appreciate, and compared to her later masterpieces it is certainly rather dry. Still, any detective story by Dorothy L. Sayers is better written than most, so it should be read at least once. And perhaps ypu will come to agree with the great critic Jacques Barzun in "A Catalogue of Crime" who thought it one of her four or five best works.
