Amazing little RC parkflyer at a reasonable price

This is an excellent little RC airplane for aspiring pilots. It is so light that it is almost indestructible as long as you are flying it over grass. I recommend flying it only in calm weather with no wind. It will make a great present to get someone into the hobby.

Cute little plane, but does not handle wind, and extremely fragile.

Bought this for my kid, Got it a week ago. The good: 1. Cheap. 2. Can be launched from hand. 3. Small. The bad: 1. Cannot handle wind, it's like controlling a bull in a rodeo match, you cannot hold it in the air for more than 30 seconds. 2. Fragile, that if you touch it too hard it could break, the wing broke in half from a crash of a few meters, but at least I've managed to attach it back with duct tape. Over all, if you can find a place without wind, buy it, or else, get ready for a wild ride and a sad kid that sees it's new present broken after a few minutes of flying.

  • Good Entry Level Plane For RC Novices

I bought this plane after spending considerable time on the Internet to find the best plane for a beginner RC pilot. While there are several options, the Hobby Zone Champ offered everything I was looking for: Inexpensive, so I could see whether this hobby is something I really want to pursue before spending a lot of money, it was rated as very easy to fly, there were readily available spare parts if you messed up, and last but not least, everything I needed to fly the plane was in the box. After watching a few videos and spending about 15 minutes going through the manual while the battery charged up, I took my Champ out for its maiden flight. There was a little bit of wind, which presents a challenge for a plane that weights barely more than an ounce, but it handled well enough for me to get it hand-launched and several one and two-minute flights before it was time to recharge the battery. My take on the Hobby Zone Champ is that it's a very cheap, entertaining and user-friendly way to get into the world of radio control airplane piloting. I would definitely recommend this for beginners.

  • Worlds Best RC plane trainer

After a 30 year hiatus from flying model airplanes with RC , I needed a serious training period to re-establish those skills that were long forgotten . Tried a couple of other models with disastrous results. Usually one flight and out . Too heavy . Too unstable . When I finally got the Champ , it was easy to get it into flight trim quickly . Almost immediately , was able to get in flights of 8-14 minutes. Flying lazy circles in the sky , or figure eights . Its super-light weight is such a blessing when the inevitable crisis occurs. Little nose-ins or cartwheels are handle harmlessly by Champ , due to its amazingly low mass. The electronics has performed flawlessly in 2 of them that I have owned. The whole package design is clever and innovative. Even the shipping box with its nesting of all parts is so useful to carry it to the field. One downside : Champ is NOT a heavy air flyer . Over 3-4 knots of breeze makes it very jumpy and erratic. So just pick your day. A joy to use up 2 or 3 batteries on a crisp Fall windless morning , making lazy tracks in sky, or doing a fly-by past the pilot. A big HURRAH to the guy that did the design work !
