He taught sculpture for nearly two decades before stopping in 1977 to become a full-time sculptor. He was elected President of The Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1986 and 1997. His major commissions have included a monument to The Women of World War II in Whitehall, Westminster [2005] and the National Firefighters Memorial Blitz in St Paul's, London [1991].
