This is an authorized inside account of the building of the Channel Tunnel, illustrated with photographs and drawings which show every stage of development from 1986 to completion in December 1993. The Channel Tunnel has been called many things, including a centuries-old dream come true, the most significant international transport project since the Panama Canal and the largest ever project paid for by private finance. It is also the first dry-land route to the continent for 11,000 years. Between the dream and the reality lay a dramatic and complex engineering project. For technical reasons, work was recorded at every stage by photographers working for Eurotunnel and for the contractors Transmanche Link - this book includes some of these photographs as well as explanatory captions of each stage of development.
