Product Information
Richard III, the last of the Plantagenets, died on Bosworth Field. The author aims to cut through the legend and propaganda and asks some important questions: what happened to the princes in the tower? Why did he seize the throne? Did he really believe his brother and nephews were illegitimate?
If you are interested in any period in history then this set of books is for you. The author Anthony Cheetham has his introduction written by Antonia Fraser, I like the joining of historical novel and non fiction - I believe the novel, when researched properly gives the colour and flavour of the times for all people's living then, farmer, merchant, soldier and so on, often overlooked in work about a particular monarch. We need these interactions to understand the way of thinking at that time, what motivated actions and why they played out as they did.
The book is very readable for the non specialist, either front to back, looking at the various chapter headings or using the index to look up various people who influenced, internationally or otherwise the life story of this King.
This book includes a good varied bibliography
