About this product

Product Information

'Nothing happens, nobody comes, nobody goes, it is terrible.' Jean Anouilh's judgement on the first production of Waiting for Godot at the Babylone in 1953 went on to conclude that the play would, in time, represent the most important premiere to be staged in Paris in forty years. Nobody who is acquainted with Beckett's masterly black comedy would now question this prescient recognition of a classic of twentieth-century literature.

  • Not compelling but interesting

If you are not familiar with Beckett then approach his work with an open mind. He is certainly not to everyones taste. I think that is work may be better viewed than read for a first experience. In a recent documentary an actor stated that Beckett was probably the last playwright in the English language to challenge our senses this being 2020.

  • A dull read I regret buying.

This is supposed to be a classic read, but I found it rather dull. It is an old copy with brown edges. Must have been cheap.
