The inspiration for buying this particular book was twofold. Firstly because I was impressed with another publication by the same author, Aileen Dawson, " French Porcelain, " which I had found to be extremely useful in helping to identify genuine, early French porcelain and in particular 18th Century Sevres examples. Secondly, as this author is the Curator at the British Museum, her knowledge and detailed research on the subject of eighteenth-century Worcester porcelain, highlighted some of the most important examples exhibited at this important Museum. What I found to be most enjoyable about this book was the detailed history of this fascinating Manufactory, starting in 1751 through to 1788. Also there are over a hundred excellent, coloured photographs, showcasing the great skill required to perfect each stage of production, culminating in these fine examples. All this together with a knowledgeable account of not only the date of manufacture, but everything pertaining to each example, including their provenance, are documented with great authority. I think this book is a must for any collector of early Worcester porcelain. It compares favourably with other excellent publications on this subject, because it is most readable, well set out and logical.Read full review
