Liked: sturdy cardboard pages (able to withstand my grandson's very enthusiastic handling); the bright colours and detail to the pages (visually appealling, held the interest of my grandson) Not so happy/room for improvement: there is only the one tune that plays, when the button is pressed (repetative, grandson got bored very quickly, as did I!). Also, the book suggests that the songs are sung using familiar tunes. Well, as a UK 'born and bred' 54 year old, these tunes are familiar to me, but I doubt they would be to someone whose cultural heritage was not British, or someone of younger years who didn't know the tunes. It is, therefore, rather Eurocentric, limited in it's appeal and application with regards to the tunes that are supposed to be sung. Why I bought it: Grandson loves 'Bob the Builder' (or, 'Bodger Bidger', as he says it) and I wanted to encourage and develop his interest in books/reading Overall: My grandson is two and a half years old, and this book is quite suitable for him as he has reached the age when he stubbornly wants to do everything for himself, even if he isn't capable of it. That is why having the sturdy/thick cardboard pages is so important; his little fingers can get a hold on the edges, and they don't buckle or bend at his touch. He has read the book several times, and it remains in very good condition.Read full review
