Katherine Worsley's marriage in 1961 to the Duke of Kent plunged her into a life for which she was ill prepared. But as her children grew up - particularly after a miscarriage and a termination, signs of strain began to show. She did not flinch from essential duties, but she often looked like a haunted, hunted woman.The Duchess was finally diagnosed as suffering from ME - from which she has since made a recovery. But the greatest evidence of her inner crises was her conversion to the Roman Catholic church in 1992 - since when she has regained much of her calm, public dignity.

Lovely book to read.
I didn't know much about her and now I know what a sad life she has lived. I'm a Royalist and love reading anything about them.

Published in 1999, this book aims to give a fair account of the Duchess's life. It does fail to be interesting though and continually comparing the state of the Kents' marriage with the Wales' becomes tiresome after a while.
