Expecting some good, true anecdotes of life behind the cameras during the making of Rainbow, I bought this book at (thank God) a reasonable second hand price. Instead of the anticipated true stories behind the making of the programme, I was 100% disappointed to find a fictional autobiography of the "history" of the various puppet characters, for example depicting the hippo (George) as being adopted as a baby from an orphanage. Likewise other characters early "childhood" experiences were described as part of this fictional autobiography. Nothing about the actual making of Rainbow, and true snippets about events which happened during recording. It was just a (trying to be funny!) attempt at humour featuring fictional squabbles between the puppet characters. It was NOT funny, not witty, not "clever" - in face the only good thing was various photographs of the puppets in close-ups with real people. If you are a true fan of Rainbow... save your money, and just look at the pictures. Highly NOT recommended. Sorry. Read full review
