About this product

Product Information

This is where the dragons went. They lie not dead, not asleep, but dormant. And although the space they occupy isn't like normal space, nevertheless they are packed in tightly. They could put you in mind of a can of sardines, if you thought sardines were huge and scaly. And presumably, somewhere, there's a key... Guards! Guards! is the eighth Discworld novel - and after this, dragons will never be the same again!

  • My favourite Pratchett

Still one of his best - the introduction to the down trodden alcohol ridden street smart Vimes and the pre Kingly Carrot. Great plot, great characters, true Pratchett magic.

  • Re-finding an old friend

I read this around 25-30 years and since I don't dispose books, I guess I must have borrowed it then. I read it on the back of the recently aired BBC series. That was excellent but still undersells the story. I had forgotten how many fantastic ideals Pratchett squeezes into a story. Now to revisit the rest of the Discworld series.

  • It's Sir Terry - so it's bound to be good!

Re-reading this book as I'd lost my original copy and it's, as usual, a pleasure. It's Vimes in his still permanently drunken, pre Sybil days and you can see how far Terry has brought cynical character along - along with how much the whole Night Watch has developed too. Plus introducing the 6ft 6ins dwarf.... Carrot. I'm enjoying it so much I'm not looking forward to the end - as I do with all his books. :(

  • Good book in good condition

I have read this book over and over, the spine has failed and pages have been lost around the house, so I've treated myself to a new one. It's in great condition now, and will probably outlast me. And if it doesn't then I know where to find a replacement

  • Another superb read.

I would really recommend the discworld series of books to anyone seeking a light hearted comical Read about a parallel universe that is currently less ridiculous than our own.

  • One of the best Terry Pratchett books.

Book was complete and in reasonably good condition, ( pages yellowing a bit, but still readable ).

  • It's a Discworld book but not has we know it!

Not the best Terry Pratchett but i'm, carrying on with it. Too many made up words that have no explanation with them, we shouldn't have to guess!
