  • AUSCHWITZ. by Doctor Miklos Nyiszli.

158 pages. Doctor Miklos Nyiszli 1962. Granada Paperback. AUSCHWITZ tells the events of the Hungarian deportations summer 1944 and how Dr Miklos was chosen by Doctor Josef Mengele himself to be his pathologist, having moved him from the men's camp straight into Crematorium II which had a laboratory. we experience his times there, events and witnessing the operation of the gas chambers and crematoriums of Auschwitz-Birkenau somes with a detached sense but Dr Miklos is also profoundly concerned and emotional about the Sonderkommando crew which only had a limited life span of some 3-4 months before they are murdered and replaced, and also his concerns about his colleagues and their collective efforts for Doctor Mengele and his ambition which were luckily never achieved. A short but interesting addition to a Holocaust library, recommended.
