  • Excellent purchase

I purchased this pump to replace a failing harbor freight 60 gal. 5 HP 165 PSI Two Stage Air Compressor pump. It was the best deal I could find that was as close to my original 165 max psi, 15cfm pump. I am very pleased with my purchase, especially at this price point. I'm not sure if my other pump had been slowly failing for a long time, if it was just a poor quality pump from the get-go, or if this pump is just much better, but it fills extremely quickly, much, much faster than my other pump, from zero to 120 in less than 5 minutes. Recovery is also super quick, especially since I don't set my pressure to max, in order to save wear and tear on the system. Installation was fairly straightforward. I had to replace the pulley on my electric motor, as this pump uses a double B belt and my original pulley used a single A belt. Since my motor is a 3450rpm, I needed a 4-inch double B pulley to get the rated scfm out of the pump.. I picked up one at my local ag supply store, along with two B51 belts. The more challenging part of the install was adapting the air supply line to my tank. This pump uses 3/4 O.D. compression refrigerant line, and comes with a funky (metric?) thread compression nut. The good news is that if you can find a small piece of soft copper tubing (I had to buy a chunk from my local HVAC company), you can then use standard compression fittings to connect to your tank. I probably spent an additional $100 on parts, including the $60 pulley, bringing my total cost to resurrect my air compressor to less than $300.

  • Work at rated cfm

I have this on a true 5hp motor with 4" motor pulley and the unit does deliver the rated cfm. So very satisfied. I'm running 3/4" line from pump to 3/4 check valve for best air flow on 80 gal tank and the recovery is fast. They included the metric flare nut for the pump so that's great. For the price it's a fantastic deal. I did run the pump for 30 min unloaded to break in before putting in service.. I have time tested the cfm and do get over 17cfm below 60 psi and 15.2 cfm up to 130 psi. Very good performance.

  • Well made good quality product

Compressor is very well made & of very good quality and the price is right. Only problem I have is it could of specified mounting dimensions for bolting down & overall dimensions of product. It was considerably physically larger than I expected but not so large that I cannot adapt it to my tank & motor. Otherwise I'm very satisfied.

  • Some tips for installation

The pipe fittings are metric bite type tube nuts the size is m26x1.5 . The part number from brennan industries is D8008-L18. ($4.62)It fits over 3/4 OD refrigerant copper tube (not plumbing copper)nicely and coupled the other end to a 3/4 flare (refrigerant)tube nut to my 3/4 tank check valve. I used a 3/4 flaring tool to flare both sides of the pipe and it works great. Both heads intake and exhaust are tapped 3/4 npt for those wanting to install all sae piping. Also the belt type is "B" i recomend getting the 2 banded b belt (both belts moulded together) . The last bit of helpful info is that if your compressor motor is 3450-3600 rpm you will need a 4" dual groove b type pulley (3.95" is the largest i could find for 5/8 shaft) to spin the air compressor pump at its rated rpm. My compressor was beat up by ups during shipping so i had to return it and had no problems doing so. Good luck

  • Great Value

Hey guys I just installed this on a 60 gallon tank with a Carrol Stream 16 gas horse power motor also bought here on Ebay, This is a great unit, it truly does an awesome job if you are using it commercially like I am, this is as good as a Ingersoll rand unit I have one also and I can say I will be using this one more due to the fact that it's on wheels and it more mobile then my other units.

  • fair quality for a good price

So I opened it up, verry neatly packed in a sturdy box sorrounded by air bubble wrap but since it is not secure to the bottom of the box wich in fact is wood it probably bounce around and 2 of the cooling fins on one side of the head were broken, verry quiet it probably requires a bit more than a 6hp motor wich I'm currently running as it does get a little hotter than before, im satisfied with the purchase
