The ash wooden handle seems sturdy and the taper fits fairly well into my old garden fork head. It seems a good length for minimising back strain in use. The attachment between the metal of the D-shaped handle and the main wooden shaft had a little play in it - nothing serious and I guess it would have functioned fine - but I replaced one of the two rivets to make it firm with no waggle.

Before I opened the package I could feel the handle rattling around on the shaft. It was a poor fit. The metalwork is actually aluminium, as were the rivets which fix the handle on to the shaft, so not very strong in the long run even if it had been well constructed. It gets one star because the ash shaft seems to be of decent quality. FFX refunded me immediately with no quibbles which I appreciate.

A quality feel to this wooden handle, and it slotted straight into the old fork tines and feels very solid. My old stainless steel digging fork is now as good as (or even better than) new. Hard work to drill out the remains of the old handle before fitting, but well worth the effort. Not only very satisfying to recycle the old fork, but much cheaper than a new one.

I bought this to replace a fork handle that broke near to the point of entry to the metal 'sleeve' of the fork. It has a sturdier shaft so should be better, and the handle-grip is very comfortable. Very well made product at a reasonable price!

Only one downside and that is the metal part handle is a little loose, though it is securely riveted to the wooden shaft. I bought one at first to see what it was like and then being generally happy with it I bought another.
