When I first held this reel I thought it didn't feel balanced, but after fitting it to my rod I was quite surprised how right it felt. I'm not known to be gentle with my fishing gear as most of my fishing is done over really rough snaggy ground so the first outing was done with an open mind. With the drag gradually being increased (works very smoothly I should say) the reel was soon having a real workout. The large handle was very comfortable to use and the long lever was able to put real power down the line. The tension on the free run was a bit tweaky to set for the weights I was using, but once set stayed set. The gear engage lever was very positive when there was no strain on but when I had to release after fastening into the bottom was quite still to release, not a problem when you realise this can happen but quite annoying the first time. This seems to be a solid well built reel for general everyday fishing and I would have no hesitation recommending it for that but will it stand up under real pressure? I think it just might do that too. I honestly couldn't really fault it in any way once I got used to it. I actually broke my 30lb line with pressure straight of this reel and it showed no sign of caving in. Excellent product.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
