Intuitive experimental gadget just short of greatness
Straight out of the box you can start to have great fun scannning through built-in sounds. The Step editor and the real time are intuitive and you get usable patches in seconds. Unfortunately (and this is the real bug-bear) the built in sampler is grainy, even with direct line-in, and samples sound scratchy and too quiet to be heard against the built in sounds. Which is a shame. If the sampler had a higher sample rate I really would call it an essential piece of studio equipment. As it is, it is a nice gadget to have on-the-go, on the bus or whatever, just limited to the sixteen or so on-board sounds. Too difficult to create a pattern
Too difficult to create a pattern and at the end I sincerely do not find much use... The idea is to buy a set or two or more to create something more or less enjoyable, and when you add up how much you have spent I believe you could create a music piece with a much cheaper synthesizer.
