Product Information
This long established market leader has set standards that few texts have equalled in terms of accessibility of writing style, clarity of presentation and popularity with students and teachers alike. Written from a managerial perspective and packed with contemporary references to management research and practice, it continues to prove the student's OB text of choice. This eighth edition brings fresh evidence to explore theory in practice, and a wide range of brand new and intriguing examples and case studies on issues and organisations that are engaging, relevant and contemporary. It also provides an abundance of online student self-assessment resources. The breadth of appeal of this text makes it ideal for Management and Organisation courses from HND level through undergraduate and up to MBA.
There are about 800 pages of business gold in this tome. I have the 9th edition. I refer to this book frequently. This book is well laid out with every major topic covered, which are separated into six sections: Organisational Setting; The Individual; Groups, Teams and Leadership; The nature of Management; Structures of Organisation; Organisation Management. Laurie includes case studies from UK and International to help students with context and to extend their learning.
This book has been written with the student in mind and uses good teaching practice to prime students to the content to come, invoke critical thinking, compare and contrast various theories and their uses in practice, and to ask typical exam type questions at the end for practice and consolidation.
However, I use this book as a reference book that can be dipped in an out of when explaining various parts of management and leadrship to existing managers.
