It does what it says on the tin.
Bought it for 35mm slide sorting and copying. There are 3 illumination levels, the brightest being quite adequate for digitally photographing transparencies. (including, of course, negatives.) Being thin it is easily stored in my cramped work room. My only caveat would be to be careful not to scratch the surface, as it is not (more easily broken) glass, but more easily scratched plastic. (Light scratching could probably be removed with an appropriate polish without materially affecting its performance.)
