The canopy is quite sturdy and took my husband around 2 hrs to put it together on his own. It looks lovely on the patio but you do have to make sure that it is attached to the wall and floor with the brackets provided straight away. We waited until the next day and the wind lifted it. After the brackets were put on and the legs were drilled and screwed into place it would take an hurricane to move it. It keeps the sun off but because of the heatwave we haven't been able yet to see how much rain water it keeps out. Overall I'm impressed.

Assembly was not too complicated: keep track of the different sized bolts. Some reviewers have commented on the tendency of the fabric to pool up with rainwater, eventually causing the seam to split. The drainage holes are inadequate, but when it rains we put garden canes between the canvas and the frame, at right angles to the supporting bars, and this guides rainwater to drain off the the front of the canopy, supports the canvas, and prevents pooling. I hope this will prolong the life of the awning, as it is now a most enjoyable feature of our patio.

Excellent design configuration which has strength limitations due to the use of thin steel for construction, 6mm screws when holes have been drilled for 8mm and insufficient washers that are too small. I have made modifications, using 8mm stainless screws, nuts and penny washers; added roof reinforcements and replaced legs with sturdier ones. This has resulted in an unobtrusive robust shade which should cope with breezy conditions for many years. The work was not difficult for anyone with basic DIY skills and after doubling the cost with the modifications we have a good item which I cannot find an equal even at several times the price.
