Looks good, works well and allows for remote & scene control
I'm using two of these switches to control 2 sets of LED light fixtures that have their own built in dimmers. I use a single Pico remote (sold separately) to control both at the same time. This is also integrated into a Caseta scene lighting set-up. Overall the system is very reliable, switch closing & opening is instant & quite silent. Reliability with remote & scene controller has been 100%. I didn't need it but the switch does allow for multi-way operation with a 3 wire switch connection. Looks good and has a quality feel to it. Amazing Switches/Hub/App
Lutron switches and hub with Caseta wireless should be the foundation of any home automation system. They can be used manually, with pico remotes (even when Wi-Fi goes down), or through Wi-Fi and the hub. The Lutron app is amazingly straightforward and easy to set up, especially when implementing multiple scenes, which employ various switches and dimmer settings. The case could be made that using smart bulbs with built-in Wi-Fi switches have their place, but I’ve found them to be expensive and limited in terms of the lumen output. Probably best use for single bulbs switchless applications and the novelty of color bulbs, again at a very high cost. Be aware they require all mechanical switches to be left on at all times, It’s worth noting that the Lutron app setup can be the basis for concurrent use by Amazon’s Alexa And Apple’s Siri. The most popular dimmer switch, uses a non-neutral wire configuration, making set up very simple, even with replacing a three-way switch system by using a pico remote at the second location, or third or fourth. Worth noting, is that they’re PD-6ans 6 amp non-dimmer on/off switch, although requiring a neutral, can be wired as well as a three-way application, with the option of retaining one mechanical 3-way toggle switch with a slight wiring change. Sometimes in some locations you just want that toggle hanging out there in the wind for an easy flick. And if you’re like me, willing to read directions, you’ll find excellent instructions for working through installation, AND they have 24 hour customer service with some of the most knowledgeable tech savvy reps willing to walk you through any set ups (And the wait time has never been more than a few minutes). Be forewarned, the switches are on the expensive side, but having worked with them for two months now, I’m addicted to their quality and performance, I’ll cut my budget in other places to enjoy putting them all around the house.
