This book, by Bernard Cornwell, is another in the Sharpe Series. I have read many of these books and now trying to read the ones that I don't have in the collection and fill in the gaps in the Sharpe saga. Although these books have fictional characters the stories are based around historical events that take you from India in the late 1700's to Spain and then to the battle field of Waterloo. Richard Sharpe is the main character and a soldier who has been commissioned from the ranks due to his bravery in the field and one who has never quiet fitted into the officer class. If you like military history and solid story lines with believable characters then you'll love this book and the entire series of 20 Sharpe books.
I enjoyed this book
