The death and burial of Addie Bundren is told by members of her family, as they cart the coffin to Jefferson, Mississippi, to bury her among her people. And as the intense desires, fears and rivalries of the family are revealed in the vernacular of the Deep South, Faulkner presents a portrait of extraordinary power - as epic as the Old Testament, as American as Huckleberry Finn.

  • A classic!

For a book written 90 years ago this holds up exceptionally well. Written in a 'stream of conscience' style that is imitated by many authors nowadays. Groundbreaking for its day. Still relevant today. A true masterpiece. But, oh boy, is it bleak!!!!

  • I’ve just started reading it and it’s going well

I’ve just started reading this. I was surprised it starts out with every character having a short chapter but it’s descriptive and I need to get into it further then make a comment as to whether I’ve enjoyed it. I shall keep reading it and see what happens. Thank you for providing such a good copy and a speedy delivery too.
