Very effective if a little pricey in the long run
In short - it works.
I developed a mild fungal infection in my big toes a couple of years ago when I started climbing which I think came from the tight shoes somehow weakening the nails. I used both Scholl's Anti-fungal solution and NSkin's Herbal Anti-Fungal. The amounts supplied with these lasted months and the nails cleared up somewhat with the infection not progressing, but the infection didn't grow out to completely clear nails.
I recently bought new climbing shoes that are even tighter and to my annoyance, developed a fungal infection in three smaller toe-nails on top of the persistent issue with my big toe nails. NSkin's product is no longer available so I tried this.
Initially I wasn't impressed and felt the infection was worse. The worst nail had thickened which never occurred with the other two remedies I tried. However, after a few weeks, clean nail is growing at the base of the toenail very visibly in two of the nails. The thick nail is dead and close to peeling away. This shows that the nail will eventually grow clear which is how nail infections are dealt with - keep the infection down until it's been cleared by new nail.
The only down sides are that the pen form means the liquid isn't accessible. I used to use a small paintbrush with the other remedies to apply the solution directly under the nail. In this case I push the bristles of the pen under the nails of the big toes, but they aren't as effective as my small brush. It's also relatively expensive with one pen only lasting a few weeks treating five toes. You're going to need to buy lots of these. But of course, if it works, it's the price you have to pay and from my experience, it's a guarantee that eventually you'll be infection free.
