Seagates are cheaper but slower
I bought two open box Seagate drives because they were a few dollars less than any competitor. The Seagates have substantially lower data transfer rates (around 35 to 50 Megabytes per second) on my Win 7 home computer. Normally I expect 80 to 120 Megabytes per second from an external hard drive.
