Charnwood Operators Manual. A single dust collection outlet gives efficient extraction, from both the disc and belt, when connected to a suitable vacuum or extractor. The sander sits on 4 rubber feet or can be secured to a work bench using the 4 mounting points provided.
Good machine, not quiet or dust-free but makes short work of sanding and metal grinding.
The motor is powerful enough not to let the belt stall when sanding a large piece of wood under pressure. The dust extraction isn't very good as the dust settles everywhere despite having my Henry stuffed up a 2" hose that I fixed to the exhaust outlet. I guess that the dust from the disc settles behind the removeable plate but nothing is said about it in the user manual. One of the M6 threads on the work table was stripped on receipt but a new table was sent out immediately. Good customer relations! Well done.
I made a small bracket that I screwed to the table at 25° so that I could regrind all my wood chisels. It did the job really well and very fast. Honing the edge to 30° was achieved on the oilstone. Now that was a bonus as I didn't think that I would be able to grind metal. Opens up all manner of engineering possibilities now. Love it.
I bought this as I am fed up buying hobby type sanders,it was either an axminster or Charnwood, went for the later, its powerful and does not stall when sanding, well built and robust,my only hope is that I wish the vacuum outlet was on the front and not on the side,i have had to rig up a seperate extractor, also I had to re attach the bottom plate on one side as it had detached itsrlf from 2 screws so much for quality control,I'll in all well pleased.
