    Super sticky!

I bought this to catch fruit flies in my kitchen and it has caught some of them. I think that the sticky stuff may be designed to attract other types of flies really, so it is of limited use for fruit flies, but it was still worth putting up as it has caught some of them.

🪰No good for bluebottle flies, the annoying ones 🪰

This was not the brand I ordered. However I kept them. One is hanging up at my Mums home where they were intended, & so far have only caught lighther flies than most likely would not have been noticed. Or meals for spiders 🕷️🕸️. I have used one at my home, nothing. The first roll broke in half so I had to use a clip to keep both parts together, due to the residue not sticking both ends in place! I used washing up liquid on some tissue to clean my hands from the stickiness after trying to put 2 ends together. They are no good for bluebottle flies, the annoying ones 🪰 my best advice is prevention. Cover meat (pet food) and animal waste to deny flies egg-laying sites. Remove waste frequently and ensure bins are sealed.

  • Best fly catchers ever 👌

These are possibly the best fly papers I’ve ever come across - & I’ve been using them every summer in my kitchen for decades ! The cardboard tubes stay attached while I unfurled them ( with many brands sometimes they fall off & you need the weight to keep the paper hanging down) , they are very sticky & cost very little. I can highly recommend these 👍

  • so simple, well, not quite

Surely not a lot to be said about fly papers: they are .. just sticky and catch flies. But: The stickiness is a glue, and it can and does slowly dry out. This can lead to the reel of fly paper breaking as you pull it out. Sometimes when you can pull it out, there is comparatively little sticky left. So its good to try to buy recent stock, just one snag, there doesn't seem to be any way of finding out. The tube can be made of plastic or cardboard, with the plastic tubed brands going to take longer to dry out. The end caps can also be cardboard or plastic. Some of the cardboard end caps are waxed, which helps a little to preserve the stickiness. However, this does really keep the end caps firmly fixed in the tube, so best to break up the wax seal before pulling on the tag to get the paper out of the tube. So, what to do for the best. Rule 1 - choose your seller carefully. Rule 2 - the quality of an expensive brand is possibly going to be better than a cheap one. Rule 3 - but the expensive brand is going to cost a lot more. Rule 4 - if you try to keep them for too long, they will dry out, its just a question of how quickly. Rule 5 - if you have a lot of flies, don't expect fly papers to catch them all. Rule 6 - consider other methods of catching flies, or even keeping them out of the house in the first place. and finally Rule 7 - bear in mind that this is a very short review, and based on my own experience. But, you have to make up your own mind. So we also have a Rule 8 - they are very cheap really, so don't beat yourself up if you get a dud pack. What do I do? I just buy one (or occasionally two) packs when I need them. Little and often, because trying to keep them for months is the biggest waste. Good Luck.

  • Completely useless

It doesnt come out of the container very easily - maybe the sticky stuff has aged and got much stickier. If you get the sticky on your fingers (hard to avoid this when you are having problems getting it out of its housing) it is extremely difficult to remove. I have had one in the middle a warm conservatory containing dozens of flies for more than a week, and no flies have been caught. The end cap fell off after a few days and as there is a drawing pin in the middle, I'm releived that no-one stood on it in bare feet. The product has no redeeming features.

  • Sort of OK, but I wouldn't buy this brand again.

The paper is not very strong and a few of these have torn as they are being opened (very carefully). They are sticky enough and work fine, like any other fly strip, when you have them up.

  • Flies ignore them.

I read the reviews which weren't very favourable but still ordered because they were quite cheap and I thought if they cut down on the amount of flies I would be happy. I remember this sort of thing hanging in shops, houses, everywhere when I was a child and were covered in flies so, either they were better quality or the flies have got wise to them. It's quite amusing to watch the flies avoid these and fly straight in leaving the paper free of flies. If you want to give them a try, they're not very expensive so not a lot to lose, go ahead as your flies might not be as clever as mine. They have a drawing pin to attach them but it's not a good idea to leave holes in the wall, I used blue tack.

  • The paper is too weak for the sticky coa...

The paper is too weak for the sticky coating - it rips as I uncoil the long ribbon from the plastic tube. After the paper breaks, you can't get the rest out of the tube and you can't untwist the part that has come out. If you buy 10 of these, you might be able to use 5 of them if you're careful. Good idea but poor material.

  • Not very effective for fruit flies.

Not particularly effective with regard to fruit flies. I put the paper above a bowl of fruit/vegetable peelings that the flies are attracted today. Some have indeed crashed into it and become stuck, but the vast majority are unaffected. Some land, walk around on the paper and only seem to be really doomed when their wings get stuck. It is clear that the little nuisances would be more effectively caught if the paper was laced with a scent to attract them. Accidentally bumping into the paper is not effective enough.

  • End of my fly problem!

I've got birds in cages in my front room so didn't want to use sprays which could harm them so decided to use the insect catchers they work very well. Had plenty of sticky glue the flys don't get away job done!
