I was skeptical about this, as I have never learned from a book before and was living in a video lesson box. But I had an overdraft so what the hell! I have only about a weeks experience in banjo, but have been playing various other stringed instruments for a while now, mostly guitar, ukulele and bass, so I have the experience to talk about the aspects of this book. So for the price, and being a book, I assumed the information included would be limited, maybe 30 odd songs and a couple techniques that would help me along the way. I was of course wrong. This book has a whole range of 54 songs, and all the techniques you ever need to play them, from the very basic 'Bum Diddy', and even things as obscure and advanced as the 'thumb over' drop thumbing technique and fifth string fretting, this book has it all. And if that isn't enough, there is a song you can play after every technique which utilises it. This book covers from being an absolute beginner to being very advanced, and I am very happy with this purchase, I would recommend it to anybody who is interested in this playing style.Read full review
