Condition:
Slate flooring does scratch more easily than other flooring options. If a scratch does occur, you may be able to hide it by applying a bit of mineral oil. Properly sealed slate is stain-resistant, but if a stain should occur, you can use a stain-removal poultice for stone flooring.

Long lasting protection
Hotspot Slate Oil Sealer is easy to use. Do make sure your area is well washed, free of dirt and totally dry before applying the Slate Oil. Rub it on well with a lint free cloth. We use it on our hearth, which is smooth sandstone (from an old pigsty roof). Easier if you do small areas at a time, then sweep your cloth over the whole. Allow to dry (2 hours for us on a warm day). Give a second coat as before. Leaves a lovely soft sheen, which can be washed. We have a multi-fuel stove which is left on 24 hours during the colder months. Hearth is washed every morning and retains its colour and sheen. We reapply the Slate Oil once each year to continue protection and keep it looking good, and have done this now for a number of years. Awful, spent 3 days with wire wool and white spirit trying to remove it.
I used the old oil product on my slate hearth in the past, I now believe this is no longer in production. I bought this replacement which can only be described as a milky white gloo which retains this milky appearance once set. Really awful so much so I spent 3 days with wire wool and white spirit trying to dislodge it from my fireplace. I would not recommend this product to anyone, Hotspot please bring back the old slte oil product which was really good.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Sealing slate hearths

Not a good product
