  • Windsor Castle's special gem.

St. George's Chapel is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter and the burial place of all our monarchs since George III (with the exception of Queen Victoria and King Edward VIII - later Duke of Windsor who are buried at nearby Frogmore).Henry VI, Edward IV, Henry VIII and Charles I are also buried there. Hugo Vickers has been associated with St. George's Chapel ever since his schooldays and shares his love and interest for this beautiful building shines through the entire book. Not only is it's history laid bare but the book is also peppered with little anecdotes many of which have not been told before. The foreward has been written by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. For anyone wanting to know more about the Chapel than can be found in an ordinary guide book, then this is the book to choose. It can be read through completely or just dipped in and out of with equal ease. A magnificent work which deserves to be on the bookshelf of everyone. I highly recommend it.
