Great story but couldn't hear all the dialogue.
I would have gotten more enjoyment out of this movie if I could have understood more of what the actors were saying. I find too often that in movies that the actors seem so concerned with portraying the characters accurately that they fail to enunciate the dialogue. Shia LaBeouf In His Best Role Yet!
I bought this movie mainly for historical purposes, as I learned about it from the Monacan Indian Facebook page, who live in Amherst County, VA. My parental family came from that tribe, and it was stated in the book that this movie was taken from ("The Wettest County In The Nation") that my family was involved with the Bondurants in making and running white liquor. Much to my surprise, the movie was a real nail biter, with perhaps a bit more violence than I had bargained for. But I think the bashing that Shia LaBeouf has been taking in a lot of reviews is unwarranted. He's not my favorite actor by any means, but I think he gave the role everything he had in this movie, and is probably his best portrayal yet. I had to have this for my own collection. The cast is amazing, it was written by Singer/Songwriter Nick Cave who should be writing movies full time in my opinion. I had to add this movie to my collection. It is an excellent movie and would be a great addition to any collection. And the fact that it's based on true events makes it even more desirable. A friend had told me about this movie that he watched some years ago. He mentioned how he really enjoyed the movie, and asked me if I had a copy of this movie.
