SynopsisDescribes the Eocene-Oligocene extinctions, an important turning-point in Earth history approximately 40 million years ago, when the first signs of Antarctic glaciation appeared. The text relates how, during a period of global cooling, the planet's climate and vegetation changed dramatically.
Well worth reading, especially if you are interested in the animals that once roamed this planet, and the dramatic changes earth has undergone.
This book by paleontogist Donald Prothero tells the story of the change in temperature and geography which met the change over from the Eocene to the Oligocene, along with the animals that lived and died during those epochs (it was amazing indeed to learn that there were once jungles in places like Wyoming!) An informative and well written book.
